We are a friendly Society, all members having the same aim - to promote the cultivation of the fuchsia. In March, a free cutting is given out to members whom we ask to grow it on and then bring it back to our July meeting where it is judged in our monthly competition. We then ask them to bring it back again to our Annual Show (see Programme) where it is entered into the appropriate class.
The monthly meetings begin at 8:00pm until 9:45pm on the second Thursday of each month (see Programme) with the exception of January.
We hold monthly competitions where we ask members to bring in plants or flowers from their gardens, a different one for each month. All of this is on the programme of speakers which every member has (see also Programme). There is also a free newsletter 3 times per year with useful information of how to grow fuchsias and any problems that may be encountered. We have speakers from all over England giving advice, and we also have our own experienced members on some occasions.
Every year we take part in displays at local carnivals where we sell plants to gain funds for the Society. We also have a raffle each month to pay for the speakers.
For beginners there is always someone who is experienced and who is willing to give any information that they may require in order to help them.
